Research indicate that Capillary Water Absorption (CWA) rather than needle holes are to blame for the lack of waterproof-ness. Capillary Water Absorption of sewing threads is the phenomenon by which water is absorbed into thread (and fabric) through its filaments. It is one of the main obstacles to the manufacturing of waterproof wear in a traditional sewing factories (where Heat Seal Seam Tape cannot be used).
Our Super Water Repellent Thread solves this problem by repelling water at the surface of the thread in quantities never seen before.
